2 centuries of sport in Torino

The itinerary runs along the banks of the river Po, predominantly rolling along cycle lanes and inside parks, far from motorized traffic. This short cycle travel through Italian sporting history will touch many significant venues that hosted sports events and activities. Starting from the mid 18th Century in Turin physical exercise developed out of the military sphere to become a healthy practice in everyday life. Torino gave birth to the first Italian gyms for common people, which were also open to women since the beginning. The river has always been a perfect rowing spot. Being at the foot of the hills, the city has always been an ideal access point for outdoor mountain activities, culminating with the XX Winter Olympic Games in 2006.
